10 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR UNIVERSITY ROOM LOOK AND SMELL GREAT! (The Perfect Dorm Room!)

A room should normally be a place of comfort and relaxation. However, it is difficult to feel at home in a messy and untidy environment.

Here are some ways to make your university room look and smell good:

  • Open your windows: Once a week, open the windows to let some fresh air in and get rid of any unwanted odors. When the weather is nice, open your window once a day for a while.


  • Cleaning the bed regularly: You should clean the bedding every week. We spend 7-8 hours a day in our bed so it can be pretty odorous. Instead of making your bed right away after waking up, draw the covers down for at least 30 minutes to allow the mattress to air out. When we sleep, our body emits moisture, which can dampen the mattress, creating a breeding environment for mold and bacteria. As a result, it's critical to clean your bedding on a frequent basis.


  • Air freshener: The most efficient technique to keep your university room smelling lovely is to use a plug-in air freshener. They have a strong perfume that will last nearly all day in your room.

  • Vacuuming regularly: No matter how well you keep your room clean, dust will always find its way in.Vacuuming once a day will help to keep bacteria and dust away and keep your health in check.

  • Pretty bedding: It's a good idea to bring some homey items with you when you move into your new university room to brighten it up and add your own unique touch – and beautiful bedding is a fantastic place to start. Without spending a lot of money, having attractive bedding is probably the easiest way to incorporate color and intriguing patterns to your new room and make it feel more like home.

  • Extra storage boxes: Because most university rooms are cramped, you'll want to maximize your space by utilizing storage options.


  • Extra lamps and fairy lights: Lamps offer a softer, more peaceful glow than ceiling lights, which can occasionally create a harsh white light. Fairy lights are also a terrific way to liven up a dull, unwelcoming home without going overboard. In addition, fairy light curtains look fantastic draped over windows.

  • Use decorative vines/string: Vines are a terrific way to give a room a pop of color and individuality without turning it into a jungle!


  • Noticeboard: More personal items than generic sunset photos, a motivational slogan, and sunglasses that seem like they were stolen from an Elvis impersonator can be found in yours. A noticeboard can be used to assist remind you of key things like deadlines and reading lists, but it can also be used to bring color and style to your university room.


  • Indoor plants: Even the most dreary of rooms can always benefit from the addition of house plants. You can add Ponytail palm, Money tree, Cacti, Lucky Bamboo etc.


  • Get a nice rug: People may think you're a little high maintenance when you walk in with a rug under your arm, but after they see how versatile it is, they'll be wishing they had thought of it as well. If you haven't already guessed, when it comes to decorating your dorm room at university, you basically want to cover as much of it as possible, which a good modern rug will achieve.
